Lijiang Green Youth School (GYS) began its construction engineering
on February 26. Field engineering includes installing an up-to-date
plastic biogas digester and a solar heating device, build up a toilet,
a pigsty, and open a vegetable demo field. While house engineering
includes the repairing the windows, decorating houses, preparing
exhibits, video & audio materials, etc. The aim of the GYS is to provide youth and visitors from home abroad
with an exhibition center or a training base in Lijiang which is a
well-known tourist region in the world. The center will present
different types of renewable energy in use in China rural areas so far.
It will also show public the knowledge about biodiversity conservation
and wetland protection. YGS has got some core partners; they are Haigong
Primary School, Yulong County No.2 Middle School, Yulong County Forest
Bureau, Yulong County Rural Energy Station, Lashi Township Government,
and The Lashihai Plateau Nature Reserve Bureau, Lijiang Communist Youth
League, Lijiang Association of Volunteers, Kunming Energy Association,
Energy & Environment Science School of Yunnan Normal University, the
Solar Energy Institute of Yunnan Normal University.
