2010-03-08~12：MI's Strategic Planning Consultation Meeting |

| Mekong Institute (MI)'s Strategic Planning Consultation Meeting was held on 8 and 12 March 2010 in Kunming, China. The consultation is meant to collect comments on the human resource development needs in Yunnan Province and Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) in the next five years. Senior officials from Yunnan EcoNetwork (YEN) were invited to attend the meeting. MI had already trained staff from government departments and research institutes in the Mekong Sub-regional countries. Mr. Chen, Director of YEN commented on the meeting in time and a necessary one. He suggested that MI put more emphasis on local NGOs’ insight on regional environment protection issues besides governments, and try to provide NGOs with participation opportunity for human resource development. He also expressed his wish to invite MI staff and Alumni to visit YEN and YEN’s Green Education Center based in Lashi Wetlands in Lijiang, China. The input from YEN has got praise from Dr. Suchat Katima, Director Mekong Institute. |
